Deepak joined IndiAlumni in 2019 and has been an active member ever since. An IIT Bombay and LMU Munich graduate, he works as a Senior Scientist and Project Manager in the biotechnology sector in Munich. Outside his professional career he is the founder of the Emerging Scholars Council, an independent mentoring organisation for students applying to Master’s and PhD programmes abroad, and he previously served as a DAAD Young Ambassador.
As President, he wants IndiAlumni to be more than an alumni association: a working Indo-German network where students and professionals meet, collaborate and grow — across disciplines, backgrounds and career stages.

Julia Regel
Vice President
Julia joins the board as Vice President and is excited to get started. She is looking forward to meeting members across Germany and India, and wants IndiAlumni to be a network where people genuinely find each other, whether they come through DAAD or not.

Kanchan Samadhiya
Treasurer
Kanchan joined IndiAlumni in 2022, after coming to Germany on a DAAD grant under “A New Passage to India”. An IIT Indore graduate and gold medallist for her doctoral thesis in microalgal biotechnology, she is now a postdoctoral researcher in Hannover, working on the surveillance of antibiotic-resistant bacteria and resistance genes in wastewater and environmental water systems. Alongside her research she teaches at graduate level and has supervised several Master’s theses.
As Treasurer — and taking on communications for the association — she wants to put IndiAlumni on a solid financial footing, reconnect with members who have drifted away, and create more occasions, online and in person, for students and professionals to meet.
