For eight years now, the DAAD has been appointing young Indians who have been studying in Germany as ambassadors for Germany as an academic location in India. However, there is no alumni work so far. The DAAD would like to change this and had therefore invited former Young Ambassadors to the meeting for the first time this year. And that’s where we came in, because: Alumni work, that’s what we do!

The four days of the conference were full of events. On the one hand, the current Young Ambassadors had to be prepared for their activities; on the other hand, we had to promote the networking idea together with the Young Ambassadors of the past years. We IndiAlumni contributed to the program with a presentation on the topic “Image of Germany-India”. And of course we introduced the association and reported about our experiences in alumni work.

After visiting the German Embassy, we went to the German House where we attended a Speed Networking with representatives of organizations of the DWIH New Delhi, the Indian location of the German Science and Innovation Houses. During the Speed Networking we had the opportunity to meet many representatives of these organisations. The IndiAlumni Association is now known in the German Embassy and the German House! We are curious what will result from the many new contacts. What remains of four such eventful days? Many enriching encounters, be it on a personal level, in exchange with DAAD staff in India or representatives of other organisations in speed networking.
